What can I expect from counseling?

You can expect a calm, safe environment to talk through whatever is on your mind. We are here to listen and help guide you to a process of self-discovery. Understanding your thoughts, feelings and behaviors - and what influences them - is often the first step in experiencing peace.

I have pretty specific things I want to talk about - is that okay?

Of course. We aim to always provide a safe, accepting place for you to talk through whatever may be on your mind. We respect that everyone is on a journey and everyone’s journey is unique - and encourage deep, vulnerable conversation. This helps us develop a plan that is unique to you and your individual or shared goals.

What if I can’t really pinpoint what exactly is wrong?

That’s okay - we expect that in a lot of cases. There are a lot of things that prompt therapy, and our goal is to help you uncover the root cause of what you’re feeling.

Whether you’re wrestling with grief from a recent or distant loss, struggling to find fulfillment in your relationships, or aren’t really sure what’s causing your feelings of stress and hopelessness, we are here to help.

Do you offer telehealth?

Yes, we do our best to accommodate your schedule and therapeutic needs.

How much do counseling sessions cost?

The cost per session will be dependent on whether you plan to self pay or use insurance.  If you need help understanding your insurance coverage, give our office a call and we will be more than happy to help you understand coverage and costs.

Understand your right for the Good Faith Estimate
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost.

• Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.

• You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.

• Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your healthcare provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or
service.

• If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.

Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises

After I contact your office what can I expect next?

When you reach out to our office, our staff will likely ask for the following: your name, contact information, a brief summary as to why you are seeking therapy, and your insurance information, if you plan to use insurance. The therapist will reach out via phone (if the therapist is unavailable when you initially reach out to RTS) for a brief consultation to hear about your needs and discern whether it will be a good fit. Availability, insurance and payment method will be discussed to ensure the therapist is in your insurance network. If we both agree to move forward then we will schedule for your initial appointment.

What can I expect during my first session?

After your first session is scheduled, you will receive an email with the necessary paperwork to complete prior to your appointment. All of our paperwork can be completed electronically. Your therapist will review your paperwork before your first session.

When arriving for your initial appointment, please have a seat in the waiting room. Your counselor will be notified of your arrival by a doorbell chime on the front door and will be out to greet you shortly.

A typical session lasts approximately 50 minutes. Any payment due is expected at the start of the session unless you are enrolled in our automated payment option. Your payment will vary depending on insurance coverage you plan to use.

During your first session, we will typically agree on a direction for the future. The frequency of appointments and overall length of therapy will vary according to your needs.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes, we are currently in-network for the following insurance providers: Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Healthlink, Health Alliance, Optum, United Healthcare. If you do not see your insurance listed here, please contact us. We would be happy to discuss your benefits and coverage further.
